Jeffrey Y. Tsao is an associate at the Los Angeles office of Manning & Kass, where he is a member of the Strategy, Writs and Appeals Team (SWAT). Mr. Tsao obtained his BA in Economics and History from Northwestern University before graduating cum laude from the Pepperdine University School of Law and being admitted to practice law in the state of California.
Following law school, Mr. Tsao served as a law clerk for the Honorable Randolph Rogers and the Honorable Brian Yep of the Los Angeles Superior Court, North District. Over his term of two and a half years, Mr. Tsao handled all research and briefing for the entire law and motion calendar for both judges, in addition to assisting with research into matters as varied as forcible/unlawful detainer, small claims disputes, and probate matters. During this time, Mr. Tsao worked on innumerable law and motion matters covering the inception of a lawsuit through to conclusion, including jurisdictional challenges, discovery disputes, post-trial contests, sanctions requests, and dispositive motions. Mr. Tsao also researched and briefed legal issues ranging from simple property disputes and personal injury, to matters such as construction defect, products liability, landlord-tenant disputes, mortgage foreclosures, and insurance coverage.
Prior to joining Manning & Kass, Mr. Tsao worked in a civil insurance defense firm located in Century City, California, where he was engaged as a trial attorney on cases spanning claims involved wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and property disputes. Drawing on his varied and versatile background with the Courts, Mr. Tsao capitalized on an incisive understanding of the law, successfully resolving many cases at the pre-trial phases, such as through successful summary judgment motions, pleadings challenges, and pre-answer dismissals. Mr. Tsao also garnered additional insight by managing and defending cases up to and including trial and related post-trial motions and analysis.
In his spare time, Mr. Tsao is an avid supporter of Liverpool Football Club and enjoys country music.
