Lenkov and Zelms to Present to Mutual Insurers on Traumatic Brain Injury

On February 12, Professional Sports Law Team Leader Jeffrey M. Lenkov and Phoenix Managing Partner Robert B. Zelms will present and lead a discussion on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and related litigation at the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) Claims Conference in Amelia Island, Florida. This annual conference is held for claims leaders and professionals within property/casualty mutual insurance companies, in part to provide educational opportunities on peer-developed subjects that are currently "hot topics" in the insurance industry. Mr. Lenkov has spent more than two decades litigating on behalf of prominent domestic and international companies including major airlines, as well as business owners, professional sports franchises, world class athletes, celebrities, and international sports agencies. He is a certified players' agent with the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) and represents athletes and sports announcers. Mr. Lenkov serves as a consultant on a range of risk management issues, including concussion protocol, and is recognized as an expert on TBI issues.

Mr. Lenkov’s significant appellate experience includes a recent win at the California Supreme Court in Nalwa v. Cedar Fair. This is a seminal case in determining the scope of liability and the assumption of risk for injuries resulting from recreational activities. As Manning & Kass’s Retail, Restaurant and Hospitality Litigation Team Leader, Mr. Lenkov has defended a myriad of high-profile cases, ranging from employment, wrongful death, catastrophic loss and injury, as well as major class actions.

Mr. Zelms practices in the areas of professional liability defense litigation, lawyers professional liability, miscellaneous professional liability, real estate E&O, design professional E&O, financial services E&O, directors & officers, insurance agent E&O, accounting malpractice, complex general liability, and trucking and transportation law. He has been named a 2017, 2018, and 2019 Arizona Super Lawyer, a distinction awarded to the top five percent of attorneys evaluated by their peers, and has completed more than 30 jury trials. He is also nationally board certified by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys (ABPLA) as a specialist in Legal Malpractice.
