Steven C. Amundson is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Manning & Kass. A member of the Employment Team, he represents and counsels employers across a broad range of industries including retail stores, school districts, security companies, health and fitness clubs, restaurants, medical facilities, aerospace companies, government entities, and manufacturers.
Mr. Amundson’s practice has a particular emphasis in the areas of wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, employment discrimination, and wage and hour matters. He has appeared in both state and federal trial courts, and his experience includes representation through trial. Mr. Amundson has successfully brought motions for summary judgment, obtained dismissals, and favorably resolved high-exposure, multi-million dollar cases involving allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and wage and hour claims. Mr. Amundson has also represented employers in matters before the Labor Commissioner, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
In addition to defending employers in litigation, Mr. Amundson provides advice and counseling to employers on all areas of employment law, including human resource policies, wage and hour compliance, and litigation avoidance.
Mr. Amundson is admitted to practice in both California and Washington. He received his BA in political science, cum laude, from Western Washington University in 1997 and his JD, magna cum laude, from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2001. While pursuing his law degree, Mr. Amundson participated in the Law Review, achieved Distinguished Honor Roll, and was a Dean's Merit Scholarship recipient. Mr. Amundson has been named a 2009–2011 and 2013–2014 Super Lawyer Rising Star. This distinction is awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in a state.
